A fringe Rajput group, Jai Rajputana Sangh, had given out a threat that if they are not shown Padmavati, they will not allow the movie to release properly and will burn cinema halls that screen the theatres. Bhanwar Singh Reta, founder, Jai Rajputana Sangh said, “We won’t tolerate any distortion of history and if any romantic relationship is shown between queen Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji, we will burn cinema halls screening the film. Our members are trained in handling a large array of weapons ranging from swords to AK 47 guns. We won’t let anyone dishonour Padmavati and insult the people of Rajasthan,” The said group consists 2.65 lakh members.

In the morning another incident happened when an artist, who goes by the name Karan K, had painstakingly recreated the poster of Deepika Padukone as Padmavati. It took 48 hours for him to make the rangoli, but it took mere minutes for the vandals to ruin it.

The artist, who also mentions himself as an actor, writer as well as a future doctor in his Twitter bio, had tweeted about the incident along with the pics of the rangoli he had created, and its ruined state. He mentions that a crowd of about 100 people came to the site, chanting ‘JAY SRI RAM’ and rubbed out his efforts of so many hours.
