Four booked for dowry demand

Nagpur: Social evils like dowry have not died down. Every now and then cases of women subjected to dowry harassments and dowry deaths come to fore. In a fresh case that has come to fore in Jaripatka area, four accused were booked for demanding a dowry of Rupees One lakh and a TVS Motorcycle.

The accused include Ramesh Baisare, Kusum Ashok Baisare (Panchpaoli), Sarita Masurkar and Nisha Masurkar (Yashoda Nagar).

According to police sources, the victim, a 30 year old woman has lodged a complaint with the Jaripatka Police Station. She alleged that on January 24, 2016 she was engaged to be married. After a few days of engagement, the accused Ramesh Baisare, Kusum Ashok Baisare (Panchpaoli), Sarita Masurkar and Nisha Masurkar (Yashoda Nagar) had demanded a dowry of Rupees One lakh and a TVS Motorcycle. The accused also threatened not to pursue the marriage if the dowry is not given.

The victim women have lodged a complaint against the accused for demanding dowry with Jaripatka Police Station. The Jaripatka Police Station has registered a case under relevant sections and is investigating further.
