Former NCP Kanhan chief shot, seriously injured

Nagpur News: Panic and tension gripped Kanhan area on Monday morning when former NCP Kanhan President Mohnish Reddy (30) was shot by four youths. According to information, the attacked was triggered following old rivalry between Reddy and Yogesh Yadav.

The incidence took place when Reddy had gone for his gym. While working out, accused Yogesh Yadav, Prashant Raja Yadav, Vipin Gondane, and Jeevan Thawkar, and other of his mates entered the gym and attacked him. In response to their attack, Mohnish picked up the iron bars kept nearby and attacked them. Meanwhile, one of the goons took out his pistol and shot him at waist and thigh. Mohnish fell unconscious on the ground. The fight created panic in the gym. The accused fled from the spot. People at the gym informed Kanhan police about the incidence and rushed Mohnish to Roy Hospital for treatment.

On being informed, DYSP Santosh Wankhede, Kanhan PI Bagul, and other staff of the police station reached the spot.

Dr Ratan Roy informed that Mohnish sustained injuries and bullets at waist and thigh. Mohnish, in his statement to police, said that Yogesh Yadav fired at him. He also informed that Yogesh’s mates also possessed pistols. Dr Roy informed mediapersons that Mohnish’s condition was still serious.

It is to be noted that Mohnish Reddy was former NCP chief of Kanhan and he retired from politics a few years ago. He was indulged in social work since then.

Police said, the reason of this attack has been ascertained as old rivalry between Yogesh Yadav and Mohnish. Yogesh and Mohnish had some argument a few years ago. The case was dragged to court for which both the parties met to resolve the issue. But, the attack on Mohnish this morning has entangled the case further.
