Nagpur News: Pachpaoli Police have booked five persons for molesting a woman and assaulting her husband and injuring him seriously over a petty issue.
According to police, some Spanco employees went to a 41-year old woman’s house in the Pachpaoli area to install the electricity meter in her house on Wednesday. When the company men were installing the meter, the woman’s neighbours Harjit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok, (52), Gurmit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok (40), Ranjit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok (47), Harprit Singh Harjit Singh Chandok (23), and Guruprit Singh Harjit Singh Chandok (21) arrived at woman’s house and asked her not install the power meter in her house. However, when husband of the woman told them to let the Spanco employees install the meter. The five accused got angered by the man’s request. And without any warning, assaulted the woman’s husband and hit him on his head by iron rods and pipes thus inflicting serious head injuries. But when the woman tried to intervene in their brawl, the five accused badly molested her.
The woman approached the Pachpaoli Police Station and lodged a complaint against the five accused in this connection. Pachpaoli PSI Jadhav booked Harjit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok, Gurmit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok, Ranjit Singh Gurcharan Singh Chandok, Harprit Singh Harjit Singh Chandok, and Guruprit Singh Harjit Singh Chandok under relevant Sections of IPC. PSI Jadhav is probing the matter further.
However, the reason for the assault by the five accused could not be ascertained. Any person installing a power meter could not be objected by any other person as the matter is related to one’s choice and is a basic amenity. Were the five persons objecting to Spanco power meter as at present the Spanco is a hot topic of debate by the harassed consumers? But the ground reality is there is no other alternative than to install the “much hated” Spanco meter!!
