Police in Nagpur’s Tehsil area have cracked a shop burglary case involving the theft of ₹1.70 lakh in cash and arrested five accused, including two minors. Police have recovered ₹70,000 of the stolen money from the accused.
The incident took place in the Golibar Chowk, Timki Teen Khamba and Khapre Mohalla areas, where a shop named Roman Traders, owned by Mohammed Shahban Ansari, is located.

On the night of September 3, the shop owner closed the establishment at around 10:30 pm and went home. When he returned to open the shop at around 7 am the next morning, he found that the shop had been burgled.
The thieves allegedly broke into the shop and stole around ₹1.70 lakh in cash from the cash counter. Following a complaint, Tehsil Police registered a case against unidentified persons and launched an investigation.
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage and conducted a technical probe, which provided crucial leads. Acting on the information, police detained Vedant alias Chhota Kalu Vikas Chate, Himanshu Vikas Chate and Vineet alias Kalya Kunhadkar.
During questioning, the accused reportedly confessed to carrying out the burglary along with two minor accomplices. Police recovered ₹70,000 in cash from Vedant Chate and Vineet Kunhadkar.
The Tehsil Police are continuing their investigation and are checking whether the group may be involved in other thefts reported in the city.
