Nagpur: Panic gripped the Government Medical College and Hospital (Daga Hospital) late night after a fire reportedly broke out in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) due to a suspected short circuit.

According to sources, the incident occurred around 11:30 PM, triggering an emergency response inside the hospital premises. Around 15 to 20 newborn babies admitted in the NICU were immediately shifted to safer locations to avoid any mishap.

Hospital staff and emergency teams acted swiftly after smoke was noticed in the ward. Some infants were shifted to other wards within Daga Hospital, while several newborns were moved to Mayo Hospital as a precautionary measure.
