Nagpur: A fire broke out in the early hours of July 24, 2025, at a shop located in the Venkatesh Enclave building in Gurudev Nagar, Nandanvan area of Nagpur. The shop, identified as Delhi Chai Culture, suffered an estimated loss of Rs 4 lakh due to the blaze.
The incident was reported by a local resident, Nimje, who alerted the fire department at 2:55 am. Responding swiftly, a fire engine (MH-31-PS-4921) from Cotton Market Fire Station reached the scene within five minutes.
The fire-fighting team, led by Sub-Officer Tilgude, driver Chavan, and fireman Ahirwar, immediately launched rescue operations and brought the fire under control. Lokesh Shinde, the tenant of the shop, informed authorities that valuable items including an Apple laptop, deep freezer, oven griller, induction cooker, electrical wiring, and other electronic equipment were destroyed in the fire. Goods worth approximately Rs 10,000 were salvaged.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. The incident has been registered at the Kotwali Police Station, and further inquiry is underway.
The blaze was fully extinguished by 4:45 am by the fire brigade team operating under the guidance of B.B. Wagh. Local residents also played a crucial role in assisting the firefighters. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident.
