50,000 seats expected to remain vacant this year too

The Directorate of Higher Technical Education will announce the final merit list of the engineering on-line applications received till date. The list will be declared on the official website on Wednesday, July 9 at 5 pm. There after the process of Counselling will start followed by the first round of the admissions. The first round of admissions is expected to be completed by July 15. The second round of counseling is slated to begin on July 22 while the third round by July 29.
The Online process of registration had started last month from June 23, 2014 in 41 ARC Centres in Nagpur Division. There are 25000 seats for 58 Colleges in Nagpur Division. This includes various Autonomous Colleges, State Government/Aided colleges, University Managed Institutes, University Departments, ICT Mumbai, such number of seats from unaided colleges, which by mutual consent have decided to form part of this admission process of Engineering / Technology courses for the Academic year 2014-15.
50,000 seats to be vacant in the State
There are about 1.55 lakhs seats available in 366 colleges in the State and only 106833 candidates have registered this year. This means that around 50,000 seats will remain vacant this year. This scenario has been consistent for the last five years. The colleges are not able to fill their seat capacity. Last, year 8000 seats had remained vacant in Nagpur Division. This year in CAP round 17,196 candidates have registered for admissions against 25,000 engineering seats.
About 15 new Engineering Colleges have got permission this year, which has resulted in increase of around 4000 more seats. In all 75873 males and 30960 female candidates have registered for admissions in the state.
