Farmers, villagers to stage dharna at Ramtek Tehsil Office on July 26

Nagpur: Farmers and villagers of Ramtek and nearby areas will stage dharna agitation in front of Tehsil Office, Ramtek, on Friday, July 26, to press for their various demands.

The main demand of farmers and villagers pertains to construction of Kolhapuri type bandharas (small dams) on Sur River originating from Khindsi Lake. They have demanded small dams at various stretches on the river from Sangrampur to Kachurvahi Khandala, Kirnapur Masla and ahead from Kanhan to Sangam. The Kolhapuri type bandharas will make available plenty of water to farmers for irrigation and pure, clean drinking water to entire nearby villages.

Apart from farmers and villagers, the dharna will be participated by Krishi Utpadak Sangh Convener Adv B J Agrawal, General Secretary Sandeep Agrawal, Nagpur’s former Mayor Kishore Dorle and Sarpanchs of Gram Panchayats. The dharna agitation will be staged in front of Ramtek Tehsil Office from 2 pm to 5 pm on Friday, July 26.

Krushi Utpadak Sangh Nagpur Rural President Laxman Mallipedi, Arvind Karemore (Secretary Ramtek), Shailesh Raut, Sarpanch, Group Gram Panchayat, Kachurvahi, Gulab Wadibhasme, former Sarpanch, Kachurvahi and Narendra Bankule, member have appealed farmers and villagers to participate in the agitation in large numbers.
