
Nagpur: The Beltarodi Police arrested a 26-year-old externed criminal for allegedly creating a ruckus while brandishing a deadly weapon in public, in violation of an externment order, on Sunday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 8.30 pm on February 1, 2026, when a police patrol team received reliable information that a man was creating chaos with a weapon near New Manish Nagar, D.P. Road, in front of a Bharat petrol pump, under the Beltarodi Police Station limits. Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the police rushed to the spot and found a man matching the description shouting and abusing people while holding a weapon.
The police team surrounded the suspect, overpowered him and disarmed him. On questioning, he identified himself as Sandeep Bharat Verma (26), a resident of Mahakali Nagar slum, Beltarodi, Nagpur. An iron knife worth Rs 200 was seized from his possession.
Further verification of police records revealed that Verma had been externed from Nagpur city and rural areas under an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4, vide externment order No. PoUpAa/Pari-4/Haddapar/2025–2100 dated June 2, 2025. Despite the ban, he was found within the police station limits without permission.
As the accused was found roaming with a deadly weapon with alleged intent to commit a cognisable offence and for violating the externment order, Police Sub-Inspector Amol Shinde lodged a complaint. A case has been registered at Beltarodi Police Station under Sections 142 and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, along with Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. The accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
