Enraged man sets wife ablaze in Om Nagar; victim critical, hubby at large

Fumed over the retaliation by his estranged wife on the issue of cooking food, a drunkard man poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze at her resident in Om Nagar on Sunday. Critically burnt Shakina Gillor, 35, has been admitted to Mayo hospital where she was reportedly battling for life. Based on Shakina’s version to Kalamna police, her husband Jogam Gillor, 37, resident of Durga Nagar in Kalamna has been booked under attempt to murder charges.

Police sources said Shakina Gillor, resident of Om Nagar, was at her house on Sunday night at around 9 pm when her heavily drunk husband Jogam reached there and picked up argument with her on the issue of preparing food. When the wordy exchange turned heated, it enraged Jogam who rushed to get the bottleful of kerosene and poured it all over Shakina’s body. He then set her to flames and fled the spot. Badly charred Shakina was rushed to Mayo hospital.

Manwhile, Woman police SI at Kalamna police station Wakode registered the case against Jogam and started hunting for him.

Sources revealed that Jogam’s addiction to liquor often led to fight between the couple. Frustrated over regular disputes, Shakina left his house and was staying alone at another house.
