A few days’ ago, Nagpur Today has brought to the notice of the authorities and the masses that many electric poles are there in the city which are misshapen and in a position of falling down. The untoward finally happened on December 27, 2013 at 1500 hrs.
One of the electric poles was being erected near Golibar Square on the 3rd lane on the right side of the road under the bridge. The workmen who were installing and erecting the cement electric pole did not tie the pole nor did they even stop the traffic on the road. This caused the traffic to continuously move about even when the pole was being erected.
Naresh Ramteke was the only breadwinner since the elder brother too passed away a few years ago. Naresh leaves behind an inconsolable wife, 4-month-old baby boy and devastated parents.
The workmen suddenly felt the pole slipping from their hands and they let it go. The pole fell down on a young man who was standing right in front of his house near a shop on the opposite side of the road. The pole fell on one 28-year-old young man Naresh Ramteke. As soon as the cement pole fell on him, he started bleeding profusely. Naresh Ramteke was rushed to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College. He was rushed to the emergency room, where the doctors started treatment. But Naresh passed away while undergoing preliminary treatment.
