Elderly woman killed, husband seriously injured in mishap

Nagpur News: In a ghastly mishap, an elderly woman was killed while her husband was seriously injured on Monday night. The incidence occurred at around 9 pm on Monday near Kadbi Chowk.

Police said, the injured Manohar Brahme (50), a resident of Christain colony, Mecosabagh, along with his wife Vimla Brahme (45) had gone to buy sugar from a nearby general store. While heading towards their home, a speeding vechicle knocked them down in front of Ashok Batteries. Fearing arrest the driver fled from the spot.

The residents and nearby people rushed the couple to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH). During the preliminary treatment, doctors declared Vimla ‘brought dead’. However, the health of Manohar was deteriorating with every passing minute. He was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) immediately. Manoshar is still battling for life.

On being informed, Jaripatka police reached the spot conducted panchnama. PI Ramteke registered an offence against the unidentified vehicle driver under relevant sections of the IPC. Further investigations are under way.
