
Nagpur: A 72-year-old man died while another senior citizen sustained injuries after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler near Lakshmi Mart Super Bazaar on Besa–Pipla Road in Hudkeshwar on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the incident took place around 7:30 pm on November 5, when the complainant, Shyam Manoharrao Nagdev (72), a resident of Pyramid City-6, D Wing, Hudkeshwar, was riding his Activa (MH-31 EL 8650) along with his friend Rangrao Homaji Patil (72), a resident of Pyramid City-6, A Wing. The duo was heading towards Besa Chowk for tea when a white Renault Triber (MH-49 BW 2742), driven by a woman, allegedly hit their scooter at high speed.
Police said the woman was driving rashly and negligently, causing both riders to fall on the road. Patil got trapped under the vehicle and was dragged for some distance, sustaining severe injuries.
Passersby rushed both victims to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors declared Rangrao Patil dead on arrival. Shyam Nagdev is undergoing treatment for his injuries.
Following Nagdev’s complaint, Hudkeshwar Police registered a case against the woman driver under Sections 106(1) and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Jadhav is conducting further investigation.
