Rs 15 lakh cash, jewellery stolen from house in Gittikhadan, Nagpur

Nagpur: Unidentified burglars decamped with cash and jewellery worth Rs 21.66 lakh from a locked house in Chintamani Nagar, Bhivsenkhori, under Gittikhadan Police Station limits, on Wednesday night.

According to police, the complainant Mohammad Shoaib Rafiq Sheikh (47), a resident of Plot No. 16, Chintamani Nagar, had locked his house and compound gate before leaving for an event at Jaitala between 8:45 pm and 10:20 pm on November 5. During this period, unknown thieves allegedly broke open the locks of the kitchen and bedroom doors at the rear side of the house to gain entry.

The burglars then ransacked the house and broke open a steel cupboard kept in the bedroom, stealing Rs 15 lakh in cash along with gold and silver ornaments valued at Rs 6.66 lakh, bringing the total loss to around Rs 21.66 lakh.

Based on Sheikh’s complaint, Gittikhadan Police registered a case under Sections 305(a) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unidentified accused. Assistant Sub-Inspector Rahul Rathod is investigating the case
