Nagpur: In a considerately serious action, the Enforcement Directorate has issued a show-cause notice to e-commerce giant Flipkart seeking a Rs 1000 crore penalty for violating rules during its recent mega sale which received wide publicity on October 6, 2014.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Day faced severe criticism from users after facing technical glitches. It also raised concerns among small and big traders that such campaigns would badly affect players in the traditional retail market.
However, while speaking to Nagpur Today, many local consumers who use e-trading and purchases, said that when they logged into the portal for purchase at 7:55 am, many products were shown as sold out. Many also raised queries as to how could so many products gets sold out within seconds of its appearing on the portal, while some like Shailendra Dubey, an e-commerce specialist asked how can a product get sold out before the due hour of its starting trade?
