Drunken truck driver claims life of couple, child critically injured

In what could be mentioned as an act of sheer negligence and lawlessness, a truck laden with Bamboos crashed into a roadside herbal medicine stall on Kamptee Road, killing the couple and critically injuring the 2 year old child of the deceased couple at 12 am on June 4th, 2014.
According to police sources, the killer truck laden with bamboos belonging to Balaji Traders bearing RTO registration number MH-40 / Y-8361 crashed into the roadside herbal medicine vendor’s vehicles which included a car bearing number MH-02 / J-1429, a minibus bearing number MH-? 8037 (number not visible) and Motorcycle Hero Honda Splendor (number not visible) since it was mangled beyond recognition.

The impact killed the couple named Sunil aged 30 years and Pinky aged 22 years. The deceased are said to belong to Rajasthan or Uttar Pradesh. However, their 2-year-old child was critically injured and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (Mayo Hospital), where the child is battling for its life.
Sources said that the driver and the cleaner were allegedly enjoying alcohol in the cabin of the truck and the driver was drunk. Both the driver and the cleaner fled the scene fearing public wrath. The police are on the look-out for both the accused.
