Nagpur: Wathoda Police foiled an alleged drug trafficking attempt during an early morning naka checking operation, arresting a 20-year-old man with 27.33 grams of MD (mephedrone). Another suspect managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police seized a car, a mobile phone, and other property worth ₹6.46 lakh.
According to police, the operation was conducted around 4:10 am on July 26 near Garib Nawaz Chowk. Officers signalled a suspicious white Tata Punch car to stop. As the vehicle halted, one occupant fled the scene, while the other was detained.

The arrested accused was identified as Mohammad Uzer Sheikh Javed (20), a resident of Baba Taj Nagar, Kharbi. During the search, police recovered 27.33 grams of MD (mephedrone) concealed in a zip-lock pouch.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly disclosed that the contraband belonged to his absconding associate, Avesh Khan (30), and that they were planning to sell the drug in Nagpur for illegal profit.
An offence has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and police have launched a search operation to trace the absconding accused.
