Dr. Smita Dabholkar to speak on Management,Douglas McGregor’s “The Human Side of Enterprise” at VIA

Prof. Smita DabholkarThe Faculty of Organizational Behavior and Organizational Development and Chairperson Corporate Communications with IMT Nagpur Dr. Smita Dabholkar will be delivering a speech on Management, Douglas McGregor’s “The Human Side of Enterprise” annotated edition by Joel Cutcher Gershenfeld” on Friday, June 27, 2014 from 6:15 pm at VIA Hall. 

The programme is being organized by VIA-HRD Forum. This year VIA is celebrating 50 years of its existence and contribution to the industry of this region.

This book explores the implicit and explicit assumptions about the most effective ways to manage people. “Heralded as one of the most important pieces of management literature ever written, a touchstone for scholars, and a handbook for practitioners, The Human Side of Enterprise continues to receive the highest accolades nearly half a century after its initial publication”, writes the author, Joel Cutcher.
Douglas McGregor’s Theory Y approach is at the core of virtually all of today’s leading management and workplace models. He was the Founding Faculty Member of Sloan School of Management. His famous “Theory Y” speech was delivered at the Fifth Anniversary Convocation of MIT’s Alfred P. Sloan School of Management in April 1957.

The Human Side of Enterprise was the title of the speech, and it was under that title that McGregor published this book in 1960, quotes Dr. Smita.

This is the second talk by Dr. Smita on Classic Books on Management which are organized as a part of the celebrations to mark the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of VIA under the program titled “Readership Gap ..If any”.
