Nagpur: In a significant academic appointment, Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Dr Manali Kshirsagar has appointed noted academician and Principal of Dharampeth M P Deo Memorial Science College, Dr Akhilesh Peshwe, as the new Pro-Vice Chancellor of the university.
A respected figure in the field of higher education, Dr Peshwe brings with him nearly three decades of rich teaching and administrative experience. He has been serving as Principal of Dharampeth M P Deo Memorial Science College for the past 10 years and is widely recognised for his contribution towards academic excellence, institutional development and quality education.

Dr Peshwe has over 29 years of undergraduate teaching experience and more than a decade of postgraduate teaching experience. An accomplished scholar, he holds an MA in English, an M.Ed in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin (USA), a law degree from RTMNU, and a PhD in English.
Over the years, he has played an active role in various university bodies and academic committees, earning a reputation as an efficient administrator and educationist. Seven research scholars have successfully completed their PhD under his guidance, while another candidate is currently pursuing doctoral research under his supervision.
Known for his expertise in quality enhancement and accreditation processes, Dr Peshwe has served as an Assessor for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has also worked as Chairman of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). His contribution towards strengthening institutional standards and academic assessment mechanisms has been widely appreciated in educational circles.
Apart from academics, Dr Peshwe has extensive experience in youth development initiatives at both State and national levels. His dedication and leadership have earned him several recognitions, including the prestigious K K Gold Medal for Best Principal. He has also been acknowledged as one of the most popular teachers on campus and received appreciation for his contribution during the COVID awareness and assistance campaign.
Dr Peshwe is also associated with scientific and educational outreach activities as a Member of the Local Advisory Committee of Raman Science Centre in Nagpur.
His appointment as Pro-Vice Chancellor has been welcomed across academic, educational and social sectors, with many expressing confidence that his vast experience and visionary leadership will further strengthen RTMNU’s academic and administrative framework.
