Nagpur: A 26-year old man, working as domestic servant, decamped with cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.87 lakh in Lakadganj area here on Sunday. The accused locked the woman employer while she was performing puja and then burgled the booty.
The complainant, Parul Pragnesh Thaker (56), resident of Plot No. 128, opposite Swaminarayan School, East Wardhaman Nagar, told police that she was performing puja at her residence on Sunday. Between 12.45 and 1 pm, the accused domestic servant Ajit Kamat (26), native of Bihar, locked the door of puja room from outside and laid his hands on cash Rs 1 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.87 lakh kept in bedroom cupboard. After the theft, the accused went absconding.
Lakadganj police constable Ajay has booked the accused Ajit Kamat under Sections 341, 381 of the IPC and launched a search to nab him.
