Nagpur News: The demand for establishment of a Regional Centre of the National Institute for the Mentally Handicapped in Nagpur has been strengthened by the support of Nagpur Guardian Minister and State Minister for Social Justice.

The minister has written to both Kumari Selja his counterpart in the Central Government and the Director of NIMH at the Institute headquarters in Secunderabad, strongly urging the establishment of a Regional Centre in the region.

In his letters, of which Nagpur Today possesses copies, he highlighted that the Centre would be advantageous for the people of Central India, saying that the nearest present Centre in Navi Mumbai is too far way for most needy people to travel to. Moghe requested that the matter be made a priority in the agenda of the upcoming General Body Meeting on 29th January, and assured both of them that “the State Government and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment will provide as much support as is required and permitted by rule for this purpose”.
