Nagpur: Following the order of Nagpur Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar restricting women constabulary’s duty to eight hours, Superintendent of Pune Rural Police Abhinav Deshmukh has issued the same order on experimental basis.

Acknowledging the significance of female cops in both of their professional and personal lives, Nagpur Police Commissioner (CP) Amitesh Kumar has ordered eight-hour shifts for women in Khaki as against the past 12-hours daily duty.

Besides professional work, female cops have to look after their household work. Thus in a bid to offer some relief to them, CP Kumar had issued an order on Saturday, August 28. The Top Cop has instructed zonal DCPs to allot only eight-hour long shifts to female cops. Though, no changes have been made in night-shifts.

It is pertinent to mention that in case of any emergencies, the Station Officers can extend the duties of female police; however they first have to inform their respective DCP.

It is pertinent to mention that the decision came into effect due to the initiative by State DGP Sanjay Pande.
