Dacoity plan foiled in Tehsil, 3 goons arrested

Nagpur: Tehsil police foiled a major dacoity plan by six miscreants and seized sharp weapons from their possession at Bhankheda on Monday night. Three of the dacoits were arrested while hunt has been launched to nab remaining three accused.

The arrested accused have been identified as Akshay Ramesh Nimje (19), Chhagan alias Tone Bhivraj Paunikar (22), and Roshan Dhanraj Paunikar (20), all residents of Timki, Bhankheda. Three other accused namely Nishant Gaur, Prashant Gaur, both residents of Timki and Lalit Sonkusre of Golibar Square are being searched.

A patrolling team of Tehsil police, led by head constable Amarpal Thakur, received a tip-off that the six accused were loitering near Bhankheda Bouddha Vihar, behind Savitribai Phule Library around 11 pm on Sunday. The police team immediately rushed to the spot and confronted them with their motive. As the accused failed to explain their motive, the cops frisked them. Upon frisking, cops found the accused in possession of a big knife, spear, chilli powder, rope, and an Activa moped (MH-49/TCD 053) to be used in dacoity. Cops detained three of the accused while three other accused managed to flee the spot.

Tehsil PSI Moval has booked all the six accused under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC read with Section 4+25 of Arms Act and Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act.

Police said that the accused planned to either loot or assault someone. Police are still interrogating the arrested accused.
