Crime Branch raids town in MP, nabs two bike lifters

Acting on secret inputs, sleuths of Crime Branch Unit 1 on August 30 raided a place in Baihar, District Balaghat (MP) and nabbed two accused involved in vehicle lifting and house-breaking. Cops have recovered seven stolen motorcycles and an LED TV collectively worth Rs 1.94 lakh from possession of arrested accused.

The accused have been identified as Anand Chhotu Rajak (19), resident of Pathani Mohalla, Baihar, District Balaghat and Mahavir Ramprasad Pal (22), resident of Kaikadi Nagar, Sonegaon in city. Seven offences of bike stealing were registered against the two accused at various police stations including Pratapnagar, Dhantoli (3), Ajni, Baihar (2) police stations. One house-breaking case was also registered against the accused at Baihar Police Station.

The Crime Branch Unit 1 sleuths were on the trail of accused after one of the complainants Harshal Vilas Kulkarni (30) of Plot No. 98, Madhusudan Apartment, Pande Layout, Khamla lodged a complaint with Pratapnagar Police Station that his motorcycle was stolen on June 18, 2017 night. The bike was lifted from a lane near Purshottam Bazaar, Pande Layout. The cops received secret inputs regarding involvement of the two accused in bike lifting from various police station jurisdictions. Subsequently, the raid was carried out at Baihar in Madhya Pradesh and the accused were apprehended.

The team that effected the raid and arrest include API Gorakh Kumbhar, PSI Nitin Pagar, head constables Sunil Chaudhary, Afsar Khan Pathan, NPC Amit Patre, constables Mangesh Madavi, Aswin Chaudhary under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, Joint Police Commissioner Shivaji Bodkhe, DCP (Detection) Sambhaji Kadam, ACP Somnath Waghchaure and PI Bharat Kshirsagar.
