Crime Branch busts gang of woman robbers looting passengers in autos

Nagpur: Acting on a tip-off, the Anti House-Breaking Squad of Crime Branch busted a gang of robbers including three women, involved in stealing cash and valuables from passengers in shared auto rickshaws by distracting their attention. An auto driver too has been arrested.

Cops have recovered a stolen gold chain weighing 22 grams valued at Rs 1.02 lakh and a cellphone. Police have also seized an auto-rickshaw worth Rs 90,000 being used by the gang for committing thefts.

The accused have been identified as auto driver Ravi Devilal Hatagade (33), a resident of Toli, Rameshwari, Ajni, Ranjita Vishal Patre (40), Puja Ramchandra Londhe (20) and Laxmi Ajit Bodkhe (25), all residents of Tarsa Road, Kanhan.

The arrest came after a 77-year-old Mangala Haribhau Pethe, a resident of Plot No 183, Narsala Road, Dighori, was robbed of her gold chain by the accused by diverting her attention in the shared auto rickshaw on October 17. The gang had also looted several passengers in running auto-rickshaws by diverting their attention.

The arrests were made by API Mayur Chaurasia, and other staff including Narendra Thakur, Pravin Rode, Ravi Ahir, Kunal Masram, Sagar Thakre,, Cyber Cell’s PSI Zadokar, Suhas Shingne, Ashish Patil under the supervision of Additional CP (Crime) Sunil Fulari, DCP (Detection) Gajanan Rajmane and ACP Bhimanand Nalawade.
