Nagpur: Crime Branch of Nagpur Police busted a cricket betting racket and arrested six fixers. Betting was going on in full swing in Vanjra area coming under Koradi Police Station over India-South Africa Twenty20 cricket match. On a tip-off, the DCP (Crime Branch) Deepali Masirkar herself raided the den and busted the racket.
The six arrested gamblers have been remanded to police custody till October 8. However, the mastermind behind the betting managed to give a slip to raiding cops.
The six accused have been identified as Raju Ahuja, Bhagwan Dhanrajani, Manish Daulatani, Ram Vasani, Ritesh Meshram and Ankush Rahulkar. The mastermind of the cricket betting Raj Alexander managed to escape the dragnet. The arrested six accused have been sent to police custody remand till October 8.
The DCP Masirkar said that the kingpin Raj Alexander will be soon nabbed. Squads have been set up to trace him.
