Kolkata/ Nagpur:
In a surprise to one and all, a developed dead foetus was found in the stomach of a 4-year old boy of Midinapur district of West Bengal. It was successfully removed on Sunday by doctors who claimed it to be the rarest of rare incidents of medical sciences. It is believed that such a unique case is found in every six lakh cases, said the doctors.

According to Dr Shirshendu Giri, heading the team of doctors, who performed surgery on the boy to remove the foetus, the boy was admitted in the nursing home as he complained of severe pain in his stomach. It was suspected to be a case of tumour, but the sonography test and CT Scan revealed that it was a dead foetus lying the stomach.

Dr Giri further said, when the dead foetus was removed it was astonishing as it had hands, feet, nails and partly developed head too. In the opinion of doctors, during the stage of pregnancy of a woman if there happen to be twins then one of the foetuses enters the other one through umbilical cord, and it remains there as a parasite, and such a state occurs.

After birth the entered foetus (foetus into foetus) remains in the stomach of the born, a quite abnormal situation, but it takes place once in five to six lakh cases, added the doctor.

Resident of Kharikaband under Binpur police station, the 4-year old child is safe under supervision of doctors.
