With the advent of online shopping, they started purchasing mobiles cheaply online and selling at inflated rates. Some people alleged that police too is in cahoot with these traders.

The City Collections mobile showroom of Mohammad Javed Sharif at Mahajan Market is well known in city. Mohammad has registered his trademark logo with government. Raking in on his popularity, other mobile shop owners have borrowed his showroom name illegally with little modifications here and there. Mohammad complained to Sitabuldi police many times along with concrete evidence but his lamentations fell on deaf ears every time.

Finally he complained to joint CP Rajwardhan Sinha and Crime Branch’s additional CP Ranjankumar Sharma. On the basis of this complaint, the Saturday’s raids were planned.
