Cops foil dacoity plan, arrest four members of gang; seize pistol, bullets, sword from accused

Nagpur.

Ambazari police on Friday foiled a major dacoity plan by arresting four members of a gang in the nick of time and seized a pistol, bullets, a sword and a motorcycle from their possession. Cops have launched a search to nab the fifth member of the gang.

Ambazari police around 8.15 pm on Friday received a tip off that some suspicious looking persons had gathered under a tree near idol immersion spot at Futala Lake. Acting on the tip off, a team of policemen rushed to the spot and surrounded the place. When confronted, the accused gang members tried to flee the spot. However, the team of policemen succeeded in nabbing four members of the gang. The accused have been identified as Shubham alias Dadu Sunil Masram (20), Nilesh alias Bagga alias Bagira Vithhal Kourti (22), both residents of Gond Toli, Tenangkhedi, Vishal alias Tava Laxman Gedam (20), resident of Old Futala Area, Palash alias Palya Devaji Chaudhary (19), resident of Jainagar, Pandharabodi, and Pankaj Bhalla Atram (35), resident Old Futala, Nagpur. Upon frisking, police seized a pistol, bullets, a sword and the motorcycle (MH-31/DD 2947) collectively worth Rs 81,600 from their possession.

Ambazari PSI Jadhav registered an offence against the five accused dacoits under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC and Sub-Sections 3+25, 4+25 of Indian Arms Act and Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and placed Shubham, Nilesh, Vishal,and Palash under arrest. Cops have launched a hunt to nab the fifth member of the gang Pankaj Bhalla Atram.
