Cops arrest 4 accused for murderous attack on youth at a dhaba

Nagpur: Jolted by the report flashed by Nagpur Today titled ‘Goons attack youth murderously at dhaba on Wardha Road but no case registered,’ Hingna police swung into action and booked four accused after recorded the statement of the victim at the hospital.

According to police, the victim Sagar Banduji Meshram (25), resident of Vakilpeth, near Bokde Kirana Stores, along with his 15 friends had gone to Gurmeet Dhaba for celebrating their friend Akshay Kosarkar’s birthday. During the birthday bash, one of the friends Saurabh Suryavanshi demanded liquor. But since liquor was not available, Saurabh and three others Chandu Shinde, Shivam Butre and Shubham Thakre, all residents of Chandan Nagar, picked up quarrel and attacked Sagar Meshram with a sharp-edged weapon. Sagar received deep injuries on his neck and head and received 16 stitches.

Shockingly, no complaint of such brutal attack was registered with police probably out of fear. However, following the report published by Nagpur Today, Hingna police visited Gurmeet Dhaba and started investigations. A team of cops visited the private hospital where Sagar was admitted and recorded his statement.

Based on the complaint of Sagar, police constable Sanjay Batkal booked the four accused Saurabh Suryavanshi, Chandu Shinde, Shivam Butre and Shubham Thakre under Sections 326, 324, 34 of the IPC and placed them under arrest.

It was reported by Nagpur Today that in an outrageous act, a bunch of goons tried to murder a youth at a dhaba on Sunday night. The goons tried to hack the youth, who was known to them, with a sharp-edged weapon. The victim youth received deep injuries on his neck and head and received 16 stitches. Shockingly, no complaint of such brutal attack was registered with police probably out of fear.

According to sources, the victim has been identified as Sagar Meshram. He has been admitted in a private hospital with deep cut on his neck and stab wound on head. Following the murderous attack, Sagar Meshram and his family are under severe stress and fear. For this reason only, they have not registered a case with police against the assaulters.

The incident took place at Gurmeet Dhaba situated on Amravati Road. Sources said that liquor is sold freely at this dhaba despite ban. The dhaba comes under Hingna Police Station jurisdiction.
