New Delhi: A room at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi has been lying vacant. The room used to be occupied by senior party leader Digvijaya Singh but his is now on a Narmada Yatra which is expected to last for six months; he will return to New Delhi only in February 2018.

So now, there is this big tug-of-war for the room with senior leaders fighting each other to occupy it.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, Ahmed Patel and Motilal Vohra have been claiming the chambers. The fact is, this room has special significance since it is the first room as you enter the AICC HQ and is also right next to Sonia Gandhi’s chambers. Congress

VP Rahul Gandhi has finally allotted it to Ashok Gehlot, the general secretary in-charge of Gujarat.

So every visitor to AICC all over from India will have to first have a darshan at Gehlot and then go to Sonia Gandhi’s room. This is an indication that Gehlot’s political graph is on the rise in the party and that Rahul Gandhi likes him for his acumen in dealing with organisational matters.
