Cong hums ‘sound of silence’ in parliament

Priyanka Gandhi
New Delhi/Nagpur:
Congress MPs in the Central Hall of Parliament have been rather silent during the ongoing Monsoon Session. Every other session of Parliament has been characterised by disruptions from the Congress-led Opposition, and in some instances the ruckus in the House has been even led by party vice president Rahul Gandhi.

But this time around, there is no dhamaka from any Congress leader including Rahul.

Insiders in the Congress Parliamentary Committee say that the reason for the turnaround comes at the behest of Priyanka Gandhi. It is at her explicit orders that Congress MPs have become so silent and obedient.

Priyanka does not want any negative publicity about the party and she especially does not want it to be held responsible for stalling and obstructiing the passage of the GST Bill.

“Let there be a message sent across to the nation that the Congress is for the GST. It is a Congress bill and the Congress should take credit,” is the message that has been sent across to MPs.
