Company owner gobbles up employees’ PF amount of Rs 1.80 lakh; booked

Nagpur: An owner of a company has been booked on the charges of cheating and devouring Provident Fund amount of 11 employees. The accused owner deducted the share of employees’ PF contribution but did not deposit in their PF accounts.

The complainant Yashwant Natthu Chafle (43) and his 10 other colleagues are working in MIDC-based Sunil Paper Cone Company, owned by Sharad Jejani. The accused Sharad Jejani deducted the share of these 11 employees’ Provident Fund contribution from their salaries regularly from December 2011 to November 2014. However, the accused owner of the company did not deposit the deducted amount of Rs 1.80 lakh in PF accounts of the eleven employees. This act of accused Sharad Jejani amounted to as cheating and breach of trust of the employees.

MIDC API Kale, acting on a complaint lodged by Chafle, has booked Sharad Jejani under Section 406 of IPC and probing the matter further.
