Nagpur News : Air Marshal P Kanakaraj AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in- Chief, Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force inaugurated the Commanders’ Conference at Headquarters Maintenance Command, IAF, Vayusena Nagar, Nagpur today.  Aim of the Conference is to review the progress of ongoing activities and projects at Units under Maintenance Command and evolve strategies and maintenance plans to tackle maintenance issues arising out of induction of new technology and weapon systems in Indian Air Force.

Three days Conference is being attended by all the Commanders of Air Force Units under Maintenance Command.  Air Marshal P Kanakaraj, at the outset, welcomed all the Commanders to Nagpur and appreciated the unique and varied areas of excellence at different Units under Maintenance Command.  He praised the Commanders for their motivation and focus for attaining the level of excellence while achieving their tasks.  He further urged to maintain the positive and continuous interaction for bringing about the desired result.  He highlighted the burning issues affecting the world in general and Indian defence procurement in particular and emphasized on need of indigenisation to reduce the dependency on foreign suppliers.  He stressed upon the need to develop vendor base within India.  He expressed confidence that the Indian private industries are extremely capable.

Air Marshal also urged commanders to provide end to end solutions in their field of operations and attending to the problems at the grass route level.  Air Marshal laid stress on IAF corporate social responsibility where everyone at the unit contributes towards bringing the differently abled children into the main stream of the society, conservation of resources, particularly electricity and water, controlling pollution by proper disposal / waste management.  Air Marshal told all the Commanders to ensure enhancement of quality of life at their units and also to make their campus self sufficient.

While concluding, Air Marshal reiterated the commitments of Maintenance Command to meet the operational needs. He also enthused the Commanders to utilize the enrich themselves from the experience of this Commanders’ Conference.

Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff would be addressing the Conference on 05 Mar 2014 and would also trophies to the Base Repair Depots and Equipment Depots, who have excelled in various fields.
