Nagpur: A venomous cobra trapped beneath a concrete floor for four days was rescued in a daring operation by a snake rescuer in Manish Nagar, who risked his own safety to save the reptile.

The incident took place in Revati Nagar, behind Harihar Hospital, where residents noticed the cobra lodged inside a narrow crack in the flooring. Local resident Vaibhav Chakole alerted snake rescuer Shubham Parale, who rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation.

On reaching the site, the rescuer found that the snake was tightly wedged inside a narrow cavity beneath the concrete floor, making it impossible to extract without breaking the surface.

After nearly two hours of painstaking effort, portions of the concrete floor were carefully removed to free the reptile.

Once rescued, it was found that the cobra had swallowed a large rat, causing its body to swell and become stuck inside the narrow crevice. The prolonged entrapment had left the snake severely exhausted and dehydrated.

The rescuer poured water over the weakened cobra to help it recover before safely handing it over to officials at the Forest Department’s Transit Centre at Seminary Hills, where it will receive medical care and observation before being released into its natural habitat.

The successful rescue was appreciated by local residents, who praised the swift response and dedication of the snake rescuer in saving the protected reptile.
