Nagpur:
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stayed the move to shift Kamptee slaughter house to Bhandewadi in city. The Chief Minister’s action comes after East Nagpur MLA Krishna Khopde and Chairman of NMC’s Health Committee Devendra Meher drew his attention towards efforts being made to shift the Kamptee slaughter house to Bhandewadi locality of city.

It is pertinent to recall that the Urban Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, in a recent communication had directed Nagpur District Collector and CEO of Kamptee Nagar Parishad to immediately shut down the illegal slaughter house being run in Kamptee area and shift it to Bhandewadi locality of Nagpur. The move sparked anger among citizens here and they knocked the doors of Khopde and Meher with the demand that the slaughter house should be shifted to Bhandewadi at any cost or else an intense agitation would be launched. Taking note of the flared tempers, Khopde and Meher dashed to Mumbai and held discussion with Fadnavis. The Chief Minister, on his part, assured the slaughter house would not be shifted to Bhandewadi during BJP’s rule in the state. With this assurance, Fadnavis immediately stayed the Urban Development communication.
