Accused cop booked, shifted to Control Room from Traffic Deptt
Nagpur: A senior police official put the city police to shame when a female Radio Jockey (RJ) accused him of outraging her modesty by sending her ‘indecent’ messages on Wednesday. The accused Senior Police Inspector Ashok Bagul, attached to the traffic department, was booked and shunted to Control Room. An in-depth probe has been launched in the matter.
The incident came to fore when RJ shared a screenshot of the conversation with the Senior PI on her social media profile. According to the RJ she was just asking for the phone number of the newly appointed DCP Traffic Gajanan Rajmane from Bagul.
Acting on the complaint of the RJ, Sitabuldi police have booked Senior PI Ashok Bagul under Section 354(A)(D) of the Indian Penal Code read with Sub-Section 67 of the IT Act.
Speaking on the issue, the furious Commissioner of Police Dr B K Upadhyay said, “I have directed the DCP Traffic to inquire into the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action.”
The conversation shared online shows RJ initially greeting the officer, following which the Senior PI asked her to connect with him on video call. However, She says it was nothing important to call on video and she was just asking for the number of the newly appointed DCP Traffic Gajanan Rajmane. But instead of telling her phone number of the DCP, Bagul sent a message to the RJ saying, “Waiting for the most beautiful and gorgeous and intelligent and dynamic and multitasking and sensual lady,” and follows it up with, “just want to see your beautiful face if possible.”
Speaking to Nagpur Today, RJ said, “It is disgusting to receive such messages from a senior official of the police department. The department has been promising safety and security for woman and other citizens. On other hand such police officers are working in the department.”
“I had just called him for professional work, to get the number of the DCP Traffic for a story I was doing. But I was subjected to this messaging. I am going to fight it out because no one can speak to me or any woman in such tone,” the RJ stated.
