- 24th Police Station inaugurated this year.
Nagpur: In a pro-active move to curb crime and to provide and safe and secure neighborhood to the residents of Mankapur, a new police station was inaugurated in Mankapur on Independence Day.
The Mankapur Police Station was inaugurated by Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule in the presence of Mayor and a host of senior police officials of the city.
While addressing the audience, Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that in order to provide a safe and secure living space to the citizens living in Mankapur area and to control the ever increasing crime in the area, the 24th Police Station was inaugurated in Mankapur. He added that the during the recent flood that hit the city, the Commissioner of Police himself took command and mobilized the entire police machinery to ensure that the citizens of the area are moved to a safer place and also to maintain law and order in those areas.
Under the leadership of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Shipping and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s close monitoring, Nagpur city is being developed to become a smart city claimed Bawankule.
Bawankule claimed that in order to establish Nagpur as a peaceful city, he urged the police machinery to appoint some young men and women as Police Mitra to take over the responsibility to ensure peace in the area. He claimed that this will be a proactive step in maintaining a balance in the society.
While speaking to Nagpur Today, In-charge of Mankapur Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Bhatkar said that presently there are 83 personnel and 13 police officers. The police officers include two Police Inspectors, two Assistant Police Inspectors, seven Police Sub Inspectors and two Woman Police Sub Inspectors.
While speaking about the jurisdiction of Mankapur Police Station, he said that a major portion of Gittikhadan and a small area of Koradi come within their jurisdiction. The areas include Baba Faridnagar to Indira Mata Railway Line in the East, Madhavnagar, Paloti Nagar to MHADA Colony in the West, Gorewada Slums to Godhni Railway Gate in the North and Awasthi Nagar to Kalpana Talkies and Kirad Layout in the South.
Those dignitaries who were present on the occasion include Mayor Praveen Datke, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh, Corporator Sangeeta Gire, Police Commissioner S P Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police Rajwardhan, Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Tarwade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration) Deepali Masirkar and all senior police officials.
