Nagpur: In a clear intention of cheating, a man first took Rs 7,50,000 on credit from another man and then, in return, issued two cheques that bounced. The accused has now been booked by Sadar police.

According to police, the accused Iqbal Rashid Diwan (39), resident of New Shukrawari, behind Ram Cooler, Nagpur, by virtue of an agreement took Rs 7,50,000 on credit from Rashid Amad Quereshi (54), resident of Plot No. 10, Mansarovar Colony, Nagpur and agreed to return the amount within a year. Iqbal issued two cheques to Rashid, one amounting to Rs 4,00,000 of Bank of Bikaner and another cheque of Rs 3,50,000 of Bank of Jaipur. After taking money, the accused Iqbal started avoiding Rashid whenever he raised demand of returning money. Subsequently, Rashid submitted the two cheques in State Bank of India in Sadar area for withdrawal on 24.6.2014 and 6.8.2014 respectively. However, both the cheques bounced for reasons of closed accounts. The bounced cheques amounted to cheating of Rashid on the part of Iqbal.

Senior PSI of Sadar Police Station Hiwrale, acting on the complaint filed by Rashid, booked the accused Iqbal under Section 420 of the IPC and probing the matter further.
