Nagpur News: Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik accused the government of two- facedness despite the fact that the law is supposed to be equal for all, today at the winter assembly of the state legislature.

Sarnaik brought up the case of an IAS officer, who has bought a 12- acre plot of land outside the jurisdiction of Thane Municipal Corporation, and illegally added his name to the legal documents claiming the land, despite the land being rural land. The officer has also constructed a house on the plot without adequate governmental permission. Not only this, land around the farmhouse, which belongs to a tribal population, has also been taken over to improve access to the farmhouse.

In sharp contrast to this are the cases of film stars Amitabh Bacchan and Rani Mukherjee, who were subject to hue and cry from the media and the legal fraternity when it was found that they owned agricultural land under their own names, despite not being farmers. Sarnaik cited this as a classic example of bias in the rule of law.

Sarnaik stated that while the celebrities had to get their names removed from the documents, the governmental officer has had no legal probe against him. Sarnaik has demanded an inquiry into the matter.
