Cash, gold worth Rs 3.42 lakh stolen from two houses in Ambazari

Nagpur: Burglars struck at two houses in Ambazari area on Wednesday and decamped with cash and gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 3.42 lakh.

In the first incident, the complainant, Ramesh Kumaran Memon (57), resident of Plot No. 96/D, 201 Alka Apartment, told police that some unidentified miscreant gained entry into his house by breaking open lock of main door when his eldest daughter had gone to college around 3 pm on Wednesday. The burglar laid his hands on Rs 1 lakh cash kept in the wooden almirah.

Similarly, gold ornaments worth Rs 2.42 lakh were stolen from the house of Sanjay Baijinath Gupta (47), Plot No. 254, Gandhinagar, between August 25 and October 25, 2017. Gupta had kept his wife’s gold ornaments in a wooden almirah. He used to keep the keys of almirah at the adjacent dressing table. When Sanjay checked the gold booty on Wednesday, he found it missing.

Ambazari PSI Meshram has registered both the theft cases under Sections 354, 380 of the IPC and searching for the accused burglars.
