Cash, gold jewellery worth Rs 5.60 lakh stolen from two houses

Nagpur: Burglars struck at two houses in Pratap Nagar and Sakkardara police areas and decamped with cash and gold ornaments valued at Rs 5.60 lakh.

In the first incident, a resident of Plot No. 275, Chhatrapati Nagar, Pramod Wasudeo Patil (63), had gone to Pune for his mother’s spine surgery between November 20 and December 13, 2021. Taking advantage of the locked house, an unidentified burglar gained entry into Pramod Patil’s house by breaking open the lock of the main door. The miscreant laid his hands on Rs 2 lakh cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 2.10 lakh kept in steel almirah in the bedroom. The theft came to light when Patil returned to Nagpur.

Pratap Nagar API Boyne registered a case under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and searching for the burglar.

Similarly, Rajesh Sureshbabu Dhawde (53), resident of Plot No. 49, Flat No. 201, near Mahakalkar Hall, Dattatray Nagar, locked his house and went to office on Monday. An unidentified thief, between 11 am and 2.15 pm, entered Dhawde’s house and decamped with gold jewellery worth Rs 1.50 lakh kept in wooden almirah in the bedroom.

Sakkardara PSI Pawar, based on Dhawde’s complaint, booked the unidentified burglar under Sections 454, 380 of the IPC and searching for him.
