Nagpur: Security agencies in Nagpur have been put on alert after emails threatening bomb blasts were received by 18 prominent schools in the city and the district collector’s office. The emails, received on August 19, mentioned August 31, prompting authorities to take special precautions today.
In view of the threat and students’ safety, the schools concerned have declared a holiday today. Police had earlier conducted a thorough search of the school premises. No suspicious object or explosive was found during the inspection, according to information available.
Preliminary information indicates that the threat emails were sent from Bangladesh and France. Police are investigating to identify the source of the emails and the people behind the threats.
Meanwhile, Nagpur Police have increased security around the schools concerned, with personnel deployed at various locations. The administration is closely monitoring the situation and has appealed to parents and citizens not to believe rumours and to rely only on official information.
