A wave of sensation filtered the area around Variety Square on Wednesday when a stray toy was lauded to be a bomb strategically placed near the square where the Variety Square side of flyover ends. However it later turned out to be hoax.
No sooner the news spread like a wildfire than panic grew strong among the citizens who were gripped under an unexpected threat. As the toy was lying unattended for quite sometime, someone from the public called up at the police control room which transferred the call to Bomb Disposal and Dog Squad. The sleuths soon rushed the spot with sniffer dog and bomb suit. The officers were extra cautious as they did not wish to take any chance in view of ongoing winter session of state assembly here. The Vidhan Bhawan is also located near the spot in question.
PI from Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Manoj Shriram led the team to the spot and what turned out was nothing short of rumour.
Meanwhile, the traffic cops faced the tough time in diverting the cops.
