Rahul Gandhi @RahulGandhi quips on the Nathuram Godse ‘deshbhakt’ controversy:
“I finally got it.
The BJP and the RSS…
Are not God-Ke Lovers.
They are God-Se Lovers.”
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks comes after Narendra Modi told the News 24 channel: “I will never be able to forgive Sadhvi Pragya.
In a major damage control by the BJP after the party’s loose cannon Pragya Singh Thakur called Nathuram Godse a deshbhakt or patriot.
The Congress on Thursday demanded an unconditional apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and punitive action against Pragya Singh Thakur, including withdrawal of her candidature from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, over her remarks calling Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin a “patriot”.
The District Election Officer from Agar Malwa on Friday submitted his report to Madhya Pradesh Election Commission in the matter related to BJP Lok Sabha candidate Pragya Singh Thakur’s statement that “Nathuram Godse was, is and will remain a ‘deshbhakt’ (patriot)”.
The BJP has condemned her statement and asked her to tender a public apology. “We completely disagree with her statement with regard to Mahatma Gandhi. We strongly condemn this statement. The party will seek clarification from her as to why she gave this. It would be proper for her to seek and tender a public apology for her objectionable statement,” BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao said in a statement in Delhi.
