Nagpur News: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had organized an agitation programme of “Jail Bharo” on the issues of killing price rise and massive corruption, scams, scandals etc. However, the agitation was called off owing to land tsunami in Uttarakhand. The agitation was to be organized at Variety Square. However, the Maharashtra unit President of BJP Devendra Fadnavis announced cancellation of the agitation keeping in mind the horrible disaster at Kedarnath and nearby pilgrim towns in Uttarakhand.

The BJP leaders and workers who had gathered at the spot contributed large amount of money to be used for helping the affected pilgrims and their relatives in Nagpur. Fadnavis slammed the ruling party and other political leaders who are vacationing in foreign countries. They must have to answer the people of the country for their totally insensible attitude towards thousands of pilgrims trapped in the disaster areas, and disaster itself as it has struck to the core of the nation.

Fadnavis further elaborated that the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is personally carrying out relief operations should not given the colour of politics. “Even though today’s agitation has been called off but the agitation against Central Government on price rise, scams, scandals, corruption issues would continue till the logical end,” the BJP chief said.

The BJP’s “Jail Bharo” agitation was going on from June 17 and was to continue till June 30. However, today’s agitation was called off midway following information received by Nagpur leaders that the National President of BJP Rajnath Singh has called off the national-level agitation. However, the Nagpur leaders cautiously allowed the Variety Square spot of agitation filled with a large number of workers. After the huge gathering of party workers and other people, Fadnavis, in his usual roaring voice, conveyed Rajnath Singh’s message of calling off the agitation that too after completion of speeches by 4-5 other party leaders giving the reason of Uttarakhand holocaust. Had it been announced much earlier all the efforts of local leaders would have been watered down.

In his speech, Fadnavis said, “The country is not battling for “asmani” (Cloudy) danger but by “Sultani” (Ruling Party) dangers. We are bound by the slogan given by Narendra Modi “Congress Mukt Bharat” (Congress Free India). A new revolution will take birth if people throughout India join hands with BJP. Had the crores and crores of rupees looted by Congress leaders through umpteen scams, scandals, corruptions would have been in the Government coffers instead the killing price rise could have curbed. Even if 5-10 per cent black money amassed by Congress leaders was spent for the benefits of the nation and the people the LPG cylinder would have been at Rs 200 and petrol Rs 40 a liter. At least 10 minister have flats in Adarsh Society by fictitious names. Had CBI probed the matter without remote control these ministers have been seating at their homes or would have been in the jails. The Congress MPs were allotted coal blocks with just Rs 5-6 crore, and, now they are selling them at Rs 1000 crores,” roared Devendra Fadnavis.

The prominent other leaders who gave speeches include Banwarilal Purohit, Mayor Anil Sole, MLA Krishna Khopde, Sandhya Gotmare, Rajiv Potdar and others. The credit for gathering of massive crowd goes to City BJP Chief Dr Kirtida Ajmera. A Nitin Gadkari supporter Mohd Farookh Chhota attracted the attention of all by his banner mentioning Nitin Gadkari’s candidature from Nagpur for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections though Gadkari was not personally present at Variety Square agitation spot.
