Sources informed an average of 5-6 birds are dying on daily basis. A nearby resident Jyoti Bharti has apprised the authorities concerned on this trend, however nobody came up to investigate the matter. Later Bharti approached Dr Kavita Rattan of Green Vigil Foundation who further informed the matter to the media as well as few environmentalists who then reached the spot which has been surrounded by foul smell these days. Even the birds could be recognized.

Later the matter was also brought to the notice of Dr Babhishkar, Director at Society for Wildlife Observation, Education and Research who took few samples from the site, however, the exact reasons behind these birds’ death are yet to be ascertained. He only clarified that these birds were from the city itself and had not flown in from abroad.

Expert on birds Dr TS Rawal informed that the birds which had died has their routine habitat on the bank of water bodies and they do not build their nests and usually fly in groups. He expressed possibility of these birds dying out of sudden change in weather that led to hailstorm in some parts here.
