Mind boggling!!!! But true!!!!! He is the only Indian male athlete to win an Individual athletics Gold in Commonwealth Games. He represented India in the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome and the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and  had clocked 45.60 sec in the 1960 Summer Olympics 400m race to finish fourth beaten by Malcolm Spence of South Africa for bronze. He was awarded the Padma Shri, highest civilian honor for his achievements in Sports.

He is married to former captain of Indian Women Volleyball team, Nirmal Kaur Saini. Professional golfer Jeev Milkha Singh is his son. Okay!! Now you know Milkha Singh also called as a Flying Sikh will not charge more than rupee note for film made on him and will hit the silver screen soon. What’s special about the currency note is that it was printed in 1958, the year when the athlete won the first gold medal for independent India in the Commonwealth Games.

Sources reveal that “Milkha ji never expected money rather he wanted only Om Prakash Mehra to make the film” .This would Farhan’s Fourth film as an actor  where in one of his interview he said “We hope to motivate young people through this film and somehow be involved in helping him (Milkha Singh) realise this dream that he has had for 60 years,” he added.” The first look of the film is out and moviegoers are also waiting for the movie release after which everyone could say “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag also stars Sonam Kapoor and is slated to release on July 12, 2013.
