Auto driver slits passenger, robbed him of Rs 74,000 at railway station auto stand

Nagpur News : An auto driver assaulted and robbed his passenger, 50-year-old man of Rs 74,000 whom he had ferried to central railway station from Kamptee road on Sunday night. Inspite of the presence of railway police, the driver slit throat of Ahfaz Ahmed Shaikh at the auto stand of railway station and robbed his gold chain, watch and cash Rs 17,000.

Shaikh’s wife, Naheed’s alerted the nearby cops but by the time, the driver had fled away. The Shaikh couple even failed to note down the auto rickshaw’s registration number.

Shaikh collapsed on the spot and Railway police rushed him to nearby Mayo hospital. He is still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Police said that Shaikh had taken the auto rickshaw for central railway sation from his residence on Kamptee road. He told that he and his wife had come to receive his parents.

Shaikh stated that the driver stopped near the auto stand. Naheed walked ahead and he was paying the fare when suddenly the driver pierced the knife point on his throat and asked for the cash and ornaments he had.

Since in pain, Ahfaz was not able to shout and the driver snatched the gold chain, watch and the wallet having Rs 17,000. Naheed shouted for help when she turned around to see why Aahfaz is getting so late in paying the fares.

Railway police has been interrogating all the auto drivers that gathered at the railway station. Police has registered a case against the driver
